CAMBA

Hey it's the guys, (Colin, Jesse, Pascal, and Mike)

We had fun at CAMBA preparing sheets and towels for homeless people. CAMBA is a network of homeless shelters that is personable for the people who visit. We helped fold laundry for the groups of homeless that would benefit from them, ( and Colin and Jesse had an amazing laundry dance). Pascal and Colin also thought of a very efficient method for transporting laundry quickly from floor to floor with the help of Jesse and Mike. Then we made dinner for some homeless men at a church in brooklyn. It was a new experience for all of us. We realized even how much of a blessing it is to have a roof over our head. Over all it was one of our favorite days. We worked together and had fun even carrying dirty laundry!

Operation Exodus

Hey this is Ashli!!!!! So after the soup kitchen we went to Operation Exodus. Operation Exodus is an after school program where kids go after school. When we arrived there we took the kids to a park like a block away. We played freeze tag with so many kids; there was so much confusion we were playing like at least 3 different tag games at the same time! After the park we went back to the school and we had a dance off! It was between
two other volunteers and Jesse. Jesse came out the winner of the battle. After the dance off, the teacher told them a very cool story about a man who owned a cat and a merchant sold the cat to the king so that the cat could eat all of the mice who kept eating his food. After the story we went to the different class rooms to help the kids with their homework, help them read, and assist them in praying if they wanted to. When we came back down from helping them our group led them in two songs. Pascal and Jesse led the second song. The kids were amazing and we will never forget them.

Soup kitchen this Morning

Hey everybody! It's Corinne here. This morning we went to a soup kitchen run by volunteers and we served the food. It was a wonderful experience! I sat next to this one guy, John for a few minutes before he left. We didn't talk to each other much but as he was getting up to leave he said "Have a blessed day and an even better tomorrow." That showed me that even though they don't have much a lot of them still have hope. A lot of us aren't grateful unless we have an iPhone or an iPad 3 or whatever the newest toys & technology are but they were so happy that we just gave up a few hours to give them food and talk with them. I think everyone got something out of the experience. So far our missions trip is going really well and we're learning a lot. We're having a wonderful time serving. Oh and we're coming back with like over 30 new inside jokes. Including "Joy to the World." Please continue praying for us. Thanks.

One day down...

Today was a full day. After figuring out how to use public transportation while toting our sizable luggage, we arrived at our CSM housing site. Our team seemed to grow in unity throughout the transitions between trains and subways, which was really great to see.

Once we arrived at CSM, we dropped off our bags, grabbed some New York pizza, and began a prayer tour throughout the city. We visited memorials, saw the Statue of Liberty, visited Times Square and Fifth avenue. We prayed over the economic disparities that we saw, the homeless men we encountered, and celebrated the diversity we saw and experienced.

We ended our day out with a dinner at an Indian restaurant, which everyone loved, and a debriefing on all the things we saw, felt and learned on our prayer walk. Please join with us in praying for God's blessing on us and on NYC this week. Pray that we would be a blessing to the ministries that serve the people of New York on a daily basis and that we would honor Christ through all of our actions.
